The Twits

Our author of the term is Roald Dahl. He has written lots of famous books such as Matilda, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Fantastic Mr.Fox.  He also wrote the book 'The Twits'. We are reading this book in school at the moment. Mr and Mrs Twit are the main characters. They are revolting!!! They play horrible tricks on each other, I can't wait to see what happens next!

Maths is fun

This helps us to sequence the days of the week.

We also know the Months Macarena in English and as Gaeilge.

ng sound

This fun poem helps us with our 'ng' sounds and spellings this week.

Mondrian

Piet Mondriaan.jpg

Piet Mondrian was a Dutch artist who liked to use lines, shapes and primary colours in his artwork.

The children took inspiration from his paintings and created their own versions of this modern piece of art.

Mixing Colours

First and second class have been studying the primary colours for the last few weeks.
They carried out experiments in Science and predicted what would happen if they mixed the primary colours together. They sing this song and say the poem below to help us remember these important colours.

The Primary Colour Song (Sing to the tune of Three Blind Mice)
Red, Yellow, Blue Red, Yellow, Blue I see you
Red, Yellow, Blue You are the primary colours
You make all the other colours I wish I was a colour like Red, Yellow, Blue

Paints
When I put yellow paint on red,
The colours change to orange instead.

And, mixing blue and red, I get
A pretty shade of violet.

Another trick that I have seen:
Yellow and blue turn into green.

There's magic when my colours mix.
It's fun to watch them doing tricks.
